Do College Admission Committees care about volunteering experience?

Applying to college can be daunting and every student needs to put their best foot forward in order to make an impression with the admissions committee at their preferred college. College admission committees review applications holistically, so having a strong application package will increase your changes of securing a place at the college of your dreams. It is important to note that all college admissions committees do care about volunteer experiences. Volunteering is a great way to demonstrate your commitment to your community and to make a positive impact, and it can also help you gain valuable skills and experiences that can be beneficial in college and beyond.

When evaluating volunteer experiences, admissions committees will look at several factors, such as the nature and duration of the volunteer work, your level of commitment and responsibility, and the impact you made. They will also be interested in why you chose to volunteer and what you learned from the experience, as well as how it fits into your overall academic and personal goals.

In general, admissions committees view volunteer experiences as a positive factor in the admissions process, especially if the volunteer work is related to your intended field of study or career goals. However, it’s important to note that while volunteer experiences are valuable, they are just one of many factors that admissions committees consider when making admissions decisions. An overall strong application package will improve your chances of admission.

So, if you have volunteer experiences that you’re proud of, be sure to include them in your college applications, along with a description of what you did, how long you volunteered, and what you gained from the experience. This will give admissions committees a more complete picture of who you are and what you have to offer as a student.
